Meeting TRAIN, at The Fillmore in Charlotte
Train and Uncle Kracker put on a great show last night!
This was my first concert, at The Fillmore in Charlotte. I’ve had not only the luxury of living in San Francisco for the past eight years, but also thoroughly enjoyed seeing many of the best musicians at the real Fillmore. Being that Train is from the Bay Area, seeing them touring with their new CD: SAVE ME, SAN FRANCISCO was quite a way to see my first show…especially as it was my second wedding anniversary! Well, until they rescheduled for last night 12.02!
I really connected with Train’s music last night. I was even crying my eyes out during two of their songs (WHEN I LOOK TO THE SKY and CALLING ALL ANGELS), since I think that Chris often tries to send me messages through music. I was thinking about it during the concert, that Train’s music has been there in my life, just as long as Rob Thomas, Dave Matthews and Darius Rucker! So, I was absolutely going to make it my goal to meet with Pat, and personally invite him to perform at The Beacon Theatre. Goal accomplished!
I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Pat Monahan, the lead singer of Train after the concert. I didn’t mean to blurt it out, but at one point during our conversation, I told him that he had some nerve rescheduling the concert, which was originally scheduled on my second wedding anniversary 11.15! When I explained that grief books often recommend planning something fun on the anniversaries and birthdays, as it makes the day go by quickly, etc. he was honored that I had chosen to see Train at The Fillmore. When he heard my story, he hugged me, and I then had his full attention.
I told him about the EVERYTHING & AFTER Concert at The Beacon Theatre, next year for my third anniversary Nov 12-14, 2010. He said that he would love to be a part of such a special event. So, I’ve talked to his peeps this morning in New York, and we have the date penciled in on the calendar. Clearly no contracts have been signed at this early date, but I am making progress, and I am on their radar! Wow – Train!
EVERYTHING & AFTER, my “little” (3 Day, Live Broadcast over TV, radio and internet) Benefit Concert is starting to come together quite nicely, if I do say so myself!
